Israel Hope of the Muslim World?
Another winning article from Spengler that provokes so much thought. Is it the very fact that Israel “humiliates” Islam also the reason why it can help move the Muslim world towards modernity by forcing it to be willing to accomodate (a precondition of a truly democratic society)?
What a thesis! I am not sure what I think yet, but I never had considered this before. The references made to the American defeat and occupation of Japan after World War II are worth pondering when you consider the ingrained nature of the Bushido code that had been a driving force of Japanese culture for centuries.
