A Nuclear Middle East
The Arab world is fearful of a Shiite bomb in Iran. Its really that simple. I know that no one in the Middle East is clamoring for military action, however, there is a prospect of a real opening of the Pandora’s Box in the region if someone doesn’t prevent Iran from getting the bomb. I am not yet convinced diplomacy is completely exhausted, yet I wonder, how can Iran not seek a nuclear program? Barring the fear of absolute destruction, why wouldn’t they want one for a whole host of reasons from pride to fear. Iran made a mistake by electing Ahmadinejad, imagine a smarter leader (like say Hashemi Rafsanjani) who would push the same way with soothing as opposed to bellicose rhetoric.
