Turmoil in Japan

Some turmoil in Japan .  The relatively still new Prime Minister is beginning to face increasing calls for him to step down after his party suffered defeats in Parliamentary elections on Sunday.  So far Shinzo Abe has definitely not shown the flair and political instincts that his wildly popular predecessor, Junichiro Koizumi did.  Irrespective of the outcome, I think you will see Japan become more and more assertive and look to reexamining some of the strictures placed on them militarily after the end of World War II.  Remember, for the first time since then, they actually sent a small contingent out of region into Iraq .  That along with their continuing cooperation with the US on missile defense adds up to a country that is taking nothing for granted as they are confronted with the seemingly inevitable rise of China .
